Although born and raised in Southern California, Stephen Mitchell began his filmmaking career in Paris, France with the satirical Montmartre, followed shortly by The French Chef, which starred the Cesar-winning actor Philippe Leotard. Since returning to California, Stephen has written, produced and directed 10 movies, during which time the formation of the Cine Paris Repertory Company took place. This process resulted in the creation of the Action / ReAction© Technique, in which all Cine Paris actors receive instruction, and the concept of Signature™, which was evolved to increase the effectiveness of Cine Paris actors.

Stephen has also created and produced the critically-acclaimed Confessions and (Interview) television series. Stories created by Stephen and appearing in the (Interview) series are regularly picked-up by major film and television production companies for development. For the last 9 years of its existence, Stephen judged the Best Directing in a Comedy Series category for the CableACE awards.
